Find Out if Laser Eye Surgery is Right for You

Laser eye surgery is becoming one of the most sought after solutions for issues like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. Laser eye surgery provides patients with the opportunity to correct their vision while reducing their dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

However, not everyone is suitably matched for laser vision correction. If you are interested in laser eye surgery, we offer consultations to discuss the different types of surgery available. Depending on the health of your eyes and your prescription, our doctors can determine if you are a candidate, then recommend the most appropriate type of refractive eye surgery for you.

Once you decide on surgery, we will arrange your surgical referral and provide quality follow-up care after the procedure.

Please book your consultation today and let us help you achieve your goal of clear, crisp vision!

Types of Refractive Eye Surgery

Refractive eye surgery corrects prescriptions, including myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

However, it does not guarantee 20/20 vision. Even after the procedure, you may still require glasses or contact lenses to make the most of your vision. Please speak to your optometrist if this is the case for you.

We offer consultations on:

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is the most commonly performed laser eye surgery. During the operation, an ophthalmologist makes a small incision in the outer layer (epithelium) of the cornea, creating a hinged flap to access the underlying corneal tissue.

Once the ophthalmologist folds back the flap, an excimer laser is used to reshape the corneal tissue, correcting the refractive error. After this, the ophthalmologist puts the flap back in place to heal.

Prior to LASIK, photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgery was the most commonly performed laser vision correction procedure. During the surgery, instead of making a flap, like in LASIK eye surgery, the surgeon removes the epithelium altogether, then reshapes the cornea using an excimer laser. PRK surgery is often performed on patients with thinner corneas or other reasons preventing LASIK eye surgery.

Refractive lens exchange (RLE) also called clear lens extraction (CLE) is a vision correction technique for patients with myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. Instead of reshaping the cornea, RLE surgery replaces your eye’s natural lens with an intraocular implant that helps correct your vision.
